Today my lecturer asked me to write an article about "Future net security". Something about a discussion about the current security and vulnerability issue, how to solve them and how do i see the security of the internet in the future. I was planning to do something about the RPC vuln, w32 blaster worm, spam and wi-fi security. What do you guys think? Any opinions or ideas?

I wouldn´t base the paper around specific existing issues - it´s about the future right?
Make a list of the general security issues these days, read up about them, and write about where they might be going. (I agree wi-fi will be a good topic though.)
Thats what I would do anyway.

You might also want to reseach alittle into the trusthworty computing thing that microsoft is making. Or maybe it had another name, where they use hardware and their OS to secure stuff...As you can see I'm really tired right now *falls asleep on his keyboard*

I think i'm gonna go with kezy's advice. What do you think if i just talk a bit about spam, a bit about wi-fi, a bit about spyware, and a bit about worms and viruses?
And kenneth, i think you should take a break before you suffer from ICWUCIAW

Spam isn't a security issue. Authentication, encryption, and the segregation of processes and users from one-another while they co-exist on the same computer are.

I suggest you look at the paradigms offered by IPv4, IPsec, IPv6; and the way that Windows NT/2000/2003, Linux, Linux SE perform access controls (Discretionary Access Control in the first two cases versus Mandatory Access Control in the third case).

It will all become clear once you read up on these subjects. There is the added advantage that it will give you deeper, more general insight too.

Also look into the type of content that websites are ofering, and the inherent risk from needing more applications to run that extra content.
